Making A Big Splash!

We started off the day by swimming this morning with new toys from the dollar store. We ran into a neighborhood friend who has two boys that are close to Calebs age and another little boy close to Ciaras age. Her two boys are really good at swimming which encouraged Caleb to swim where he hasn’t before all on his own. Then the boys started jumping off the diving board, and so did Caleb. This is a pretty big deal because his Dad has been trying to convince him to jump for a while now. He jumped off the diving board when we first moved to the neighborhood but ever since he gets to scared. He actually climbed up there like 4 times before he actually decided to do it. (With the help of a to small dollar floaty) I was so proud of him. I had to take a couple of pictures so we had proof of this brave boy! After Caleb jumped in Ciara decided to do it. I hated this! I couldn’t get out of the pool to get her because I didn’t want her to fall off. She eventually clung to the end of the diving board, and with the help of two other moms I was able to let her down gently from the “great” death drop for a small little girl. It made me so uncomfortable, but she loved it. I didn’t let her do it again. Maybe when we have a more confident swimming adult around. 😉

Bens brother Aaron had his son over this weekend and Lori suggested that we all go fishing! We know of a little stocked pond in Kamas that we took Caleb to about 3 years ago. The kids loved it! At first we had string cheese as bait because none of us wanted to get to nasty with worms but with lots of trial and error we got some worms. I only brought two poles so we shared, Braxton caught the first fish and he just squealed with delight! He was a little grouchy from a short nap in the car but once he caught that fish his mood changed quick. We gave him a pole without a hook to slap the fish with. It was really fun to see him get a kick out of hitting a large group of fish with a bobber. He would splash some water on his Aunt Sara and I would say EWWW and he would laugh and do it again. He is a cute little stank. 😉

Caleb became pretty upset when he didn’t catch anything for the first couple of tries. Because it so overwhelmed with fish, and the fish are just like sitting ducks they have discovered how to nibble off the bait and not really grab a big bite to get hooked. Caleb almost caught like 10 fish but they kept slipping off. With a little help from Uncle Aaron he was able to finally catch one. I love that he is so passionate about fishing. He is a true outdoorsman.

The pond offered some food to feed the fish and this is what Ciara spent the majority of her time doing, and being attached to her favorite person in the world, Nanny (aka Grandma). Then Braxton would join along in throwing the food in and watching the group of fish fight over it. It was a lot of fun… but we sure did miss Daddy.

It was Ben’s first day back to his previous job after telling them he is quitting and everyone seemed to be very supportive of his decision. (Cause its like a no brainer!) But because he is quitting he got to bring home our older dell monitor… which used to be our beast computer until we got the mac. So Ben had the pleasure of connecting them up side by side. As you can see in the picture, we finally put his electric circuits book to good use 🙂 We also got a fantastic deal on some memory for our mac so now it has 12GB of memory and runs at flash speed! Woot! I have that “I love technology” song in my head. Needless to say he was pretty pleased with himself. 🙂
